Posted February 09, 2019 14:18:50The final moments of a woman who was found with her throat slit in a swimming pool in Cork in a tragic incident last year were captured on video and shared widely online.
The victim, named only as Jane Doe, was found in the pool with her face covered in a towel by her husband, Pauline.
Pauline Doe told police that she went to the pool to take a shower after her husband left to work.
She told gardai she was not going to go out alone.
She said she was about to shower when she noticed the towel was ripped open.
“I got down and I started to touch the towel,” she said.
“And the towel, the towel started to go through my mouth.”
The video showed Pauline pulling out her clothes and pulling out the body of Jane Doe.
Paul, a married father of two, was arrested and charged with murder.
Gardai found her body in a pool of water in the back of her car on February 10, 2019.
The video went viral and was viewed almost 6 million times on YouTube.
In it, Paulines face is clearly visible as he is seen repeatedly saying “she’s dead”.
“She’s dead, she’s dead,” he is heard saying.
“She doesn’t exist.”
Gardaí also found a number of items in the vehicle, including a gun, a mask and a scarf.
Paul and his wife had recently divorced and were married for just over two years.
A postmortem examination was ordered into the death and the case has been referred to the Garda Bureau of Investigation.
